Anton Grütter is the CEO of the Lean Institute Africa. He has advised on the introduction and Anton Grutterinstitutionalisation of programmes to improve operational performance in industry and commerce in the private sector. In recent years he has worked mostly in the public sector justice and healthcare systems.

Previously he taught operations management at a number of South African universities. He still teaches part-time as a visiting professor on the MBA programme at Shanghai University and also on the Executive MBA programme of the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town.

His PhD research was on the effective implementation of shop-floor improvement teams and his textbook “Introduction to Operations Management” was published by Heinemann in 2010. He has presented at many international conferences, most recently as an invited speaker at the 2014 Lean Enterprise Institute Summit in China and at the inaugural lean management conference in Abidjan in the Ivory Coast.
